The Primary Faith-Based Health Network in Liberia

The Christian Health Association of Liberia (CHAL) is a faith-based, umbrella organization dedicated to providing holistic Christian healthcare services to people in Liberia. In 1975 the medical authorities of main stream Christian hospitals (Curran Lutheran, Phebe, Ganta United Methodist, St. Joseph’s Catholic and ELWA) realized that they would significantly reduce transaction time and the cost of medical supplies if they procured together in bulk. The over whelming advantages in the newly discovered scheme quickly propelled these hospitals toward the formation of the Christian Health Association of Liberia. Working through a network of 82 faith-based health facilities, the membership of CHAL is currently spread in twelve of the fifteen counties of Liberia.

Network Unity

We unite 82 faith-based health facilities under one shared mission — delivering compassionate, equitable, and quality healthcare across 12 of Liberia's 15 counties.

Health Systems Strengthening

We strengthen clinical standards by building the capacity of health workers, improving infrastructure, and supporting maternal, newborn and child health services at facility level.

Drugs Supply Unit (DSU)

Through our dedicated Drugs Supply Unit, we manage a robust supply chain providing quality-assured essential medicines and medical supplies to member facilities across Liberia.

Evidence Based Advocacy

We use data and field evidence from our network to influence national health policy, advocate for the most vulnerable, and strengthen Liberia's faith-based health sector.
